Despite remarkable advances in modern medicine and sanitation infrastructure, waterborne diseases continue to plague millions of people worldwide, representing one of the most persistent public health challenges of our time. These diseases, transmitted through contaminated water sources, disproportionately affect developing nations and marginalized communities where access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation remains limited. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water at home, while 3.6 billion people lack safely managed sanitation services.
